Collection: Monique de Roux
A Parisian painter and printmaker, Monique de Roux has always questioned herself in her work, capturing in her paintings dreams that are difficult to decipher. Like Friedrich and William Blake, she expresses herself in a captivating symbolic language, in which seemingly simple and essential elements reveal rhythmic compositions where chaos appears to reign.
In 1980, she received the Carmen Arozena Printmaking Prize, and in 1984, the Máximo Ramos Printmaking Prize. Also in 1984, she was selected to study with the painter Antonio López García at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. In 1990, the Mapfre Foundation awarded her the Penagos Drawing Prize. From 1996 to 2014, she collaborated with the French gallery Alain Blondel and exhibited in Europe and America. In late 2016, she spent two months at the Xu Yuan Art Center in Beijing, invited by the National Chalcography Institute and the Cervantes Institute in Beijing, in collaboration with the Xu Yuan Art Center.
In recent years, in addition to oil painting, he has ventured into the world of photopolymer. This graphic art technique has allowed him to experiment with light and color to achieve reliefs and prints of unparalleled quality.
